Telehealth endpoints are the hardware that sends and receives the video, audio and other multimedia content required to deliver a face-to-face video meeting. There are a rapidly growing number of devices that are able to support telehealth, however each have strengths and weaknesses so it is important that the right device is selected for each application.
Types of devices include
- Mobile - phone or tablet
- Computer - laptop or desktop computer
- Specialised Video Conference Unit - desktop, room, immersive or specialised
It is common to deploy a mix of devices in one organisation as each have their strengths and weaknesses. Not all devices and setups will be acceptable for a patient consultation, but some of the lower quality devices will be cost effective and convenient for administrative sessions
